Sights - Ban Gioc Waterfall
Ban Gioc Waterfall, located in Cao Bang Province in northern Vietnam, is one of the most stunning natural attractions in the country as well as being one of the largest in Asia. The waterfall straddles the border between Vietnam and China, making it one of the few waterfalls in the world that is shared between two countries.
The waterfall is divided into two parts: the main fall, which is approximately 30 meters high and 300 meters wide, and the secondary fall, which is smaller but equally picturesque. The water cascades down multiple tiers of limestone rocks, creating a spectacular display of mist and spray, particularly during the rainy season from June to September when the flow is at its peak.
Surrounded by lush greenery, Ban Gioc Waterfall offers a serene and breathtaking landscape. Visitors can explore the area by walking along the various trails that provide different viewpoints of the cascading water.
Rafting
If you wish to get even closer to the falls, there is a raft tour that takes around 20 minutes. This tour takes you right to the face of the waterfall and it’s quite thrilling to be so close. Just make sure your camera-phone or camera is water resistant as being this close is going to have a few splashes.
Horse riding
A bit of a let down. The horses are for photo opportunities and not really for riding. While fun, the total distance you might cover is 30m. They are owned by local people who walk them the 2km to the waterfalls in the mornings so their lives are quite good and not too stressful.
Tiger Cave
When visiting the waterfall, the Tiger Cave (Nguom Ngao in Vietnamese) is only a few kilometres away and it’s on our tour schedule too. Tiger cave is over 2km long and the most impressive of the region.
