Ninh Binh is the perfect weekend getaway break from Hanoi, with lots to do in this ancient capital & being only 90km or 2hrs travel away. Our private tours are for groups of 1 to 10 people. Perfect for solo travellers, couples, families & groups of friends. Travel options are either by train or private car. Private car is the most popular option with pickup from your hotel or residence in Hanoi. The tour sets off early at 7am to beat the rush as the sampan boat trip is very popular from late morning onwards.

There is much to do and see in Ninh Binh from the New Bai Đính Temple which covers an impressive 700 hectares. Then there are the amazing views from the top of the 1000 steps, which are steps carved in to one of the giant limestone karsts. From the top you can see the river below amongst the smaller giant karsts. The terrain is quite flat around the river area, so cycling is a very popular way to spend an afternoon.

Getting to know Ninh Binh

The 10th century capital of Northern Vietnam, Ninh Binh has always had cultural and spiritual importance to the nation. Limestone karsts dominate the region, many being many hundreds of metres high. There are many waterways to go boating on too as well as a national park that is 2200km/2 that is home to many rare species of plants and animals.

Festivals

Over the luna new year (january to march) there are many parades in the centre of Ninh Binh, the old capital at Hoa Lu as well as celebrations at the Bai Dinh Temple Complex. The most popular and spectacular are the festivals on the river with the sampans connecting up to form large dragons that are so colourful and beautiful to see.
