Waterfall Number 6

Waterfall Number 6

This hidden gem is not known to many. We start at Ha Thanh village, walking up the road where we bear left after some homestays & restaurant where we make our way down to the little stream where we do a little ‘rock hopping’ to get to the other side to continue the trail. Often there are water buffalo’s cooling themselves in the river too.

Walking through the grassy fields on the other side of the river, we see they are covered with huge black rocks sticking out of the ground - our journey to the waterfall number 6 from here is a short one, some 200m or so, guided by the sounds of the rushing water. Its a great place to swim if you are feeling up to it. The water is so cool & very refreshing in the hot summer months.

After we tear ourselves away from the beautiful falls, we head back (the waterfall is a dead end, so we have to retrace a little) and we follow the trail to the right side to continue. This takes us up a sloped track that guides us into the forest with a very tall canopies, filled with exotic plants & trees. As we follow the track though the forest, there are the occasional clearings where we can see giant limestone karst’s in the distance that look as big as mountains.

As we come out of the forest, we walk around some farmers fields where they grow corn! This is because of the altitude of the fields & that the fields are on a sloped. Not suitable for farming rice! From here we are soon back on a ‘paved’ country road where pleasantries are exchanged with the local farmers who are often walking their livestock (buffalo / goats & cows).

From there we not far from our destination where the possibility of road traffic ones again signals we are nearly finished our trek as our destination is the homestay of Mr Thien.

*Sometimes this trek may be done in reverse!
