Sights - Incense village of Quang Phu Cau
Quang Phu Cau has been making incense for over 100 years and is a large scale producer of incense. Precicely for this reason the village has become popular with tourists as the brightly coloured bundles of incense are rather beautiful to see and look like large blooming flowers as they dry in the sun.
The village is about 30km outside of Hanoi, so getting there is quite easy. There is much to see as we are able to see the entire process of making incense here.
Many families in the village have worked there for generations, passing down the craft to younger family members. As incense sticks are integral to Vietnamese spiritual life, used in daily worship and during sacred festivals, the craft of making them remains a respected art, sustaining the community both spiritually and economically.
