Getting to know...
Kho Muong is a traditional Thai minority village tucked into a valley deep within the Pu Luong Nature Reserve. The village is less visited than Don and feels genuinely remote - surrounded by terraced rice fields, bamboo forest and limestone mountains.
The homestays here are simple and authentic. Dinner is communal, home-cooked local food shared with your hosts on the floor of the stilt house. It is one of the best homestay experiences in the reserve for travellers who want to get away from it all.
Kho Muong Cave
A short hike from the village leads to Kho Muong Cave, a large limestone cave that extends deep into the hillside. The cave is less developed than tourist caves elsewhere in Vietnam - no coloured lights or paved paths - which is part of its charm. A torch is needed.
