Pom Coong Village

Getting to know...

Pom Coong Village sits just across the road from the more well-known Ban Lac village, but tends to be quieter and less commercialised. Like Ban Lac, it is a White Thai village with traditional stilt houses and a strong weaving tradition.

The village offers a more relaxed atmosphere for those looking to experience authentic village life without the crowds. Homestays here are popular with travellers who want a peaceful evening in the valley.

Pom Coong is also one of the villages on our Mai Chau valley cycling route. The flat loop between Ban Lac Village and Pom Coong is one of the easiest and most enjoyable activities in the valley, and features on tours such as our Mai Chau Valley Experience.

Village life

The daily rhythm of Pom Coong revolves around rice farming and weaving. Visitors are welcome to walk through the village, chat with locals and observe traditional crafts being made.

Food in Pom Coong

Because Pom Coong is one of the regular lunch stops on our Mai Chau tours, it is also a good place to experience White Thai cuisine. Meals here are typically based around sticky rice, grilled meats, fresh local vegetables and bamboo shoot dishes, with flavours and cooking styles that reflect the Thai communities of the valley rather than the food traditions of Hanoi or Sapa.
