Muong Village Trail

This route is one of the three most popular routes. It is still called the Muong Village Trail even though the village has long gone and been relocated. We have chosen this route as it is the only one that can be completed in a single day, the others all require camping in the national park. Essentially the route is circular being that it starts where it finishes - near the restaurant. Convenient! The total distance for the trek is 8km and it should take around 3hrs. There is an optional detour on the trek to visit the Palace Cave though you will need to bring your own torch as its not lit nor does it have any modifications for accessability.

On the trek you should see many birds, wild monkeys and flowers - many unique or rarely found elsewhere. This is why the park has international status. Along the trek you should also be able to see the Silver Cloud peak which is the largest limestone karst in the national park at some 648m high (asl). There is also the famous Cho Chi tree that is 700 years old though it is sometimes rounded up to 1000 years old. Some of these older trees can reach heights of 70m, which is quite an impressive sight.

The trek is not particularly hard, the variations in altitude are minimal, maybe 100m at most over the entire trek. The real gem about this trek is seeing all the rare wildlife in its natural environment.

*At the sight of the old village is now a tourist replica. This is so the activities can be sustainable in the national park.
