Sights - Nho Que River

The emerald green Nho Que River is located at an altitude of more than 1,500 m, originating from the Nghiem Son mountain area, in Yunnan province, China and the total length of the river is 192 km, of which 46 km is on the Vietnamese side. Nho Que River flows from Seo Lung village, Lung Cu commune, Dong Van district through Tu San Canyon, following Ma Pi Leng pass to Meo Vac. From Meo Vac, the water stream splits into two, flowing East and Southeast, through Cao Bang province before flowing into the Gam River.

The river also generates a lot of power for the region with three hydro electric power stations along the Vietnamese side producing around 200mw of electricity.

Origin story

As is popular in the region, there is a mythical origin story for the canyon. This time not created by a fairy but by a giant who roamed the Ha Giang region as he loved its natural beauty. This giant was known to test his immense strength by shaping the landscape from time to time. Desiring to create a unique feature that would stand as a testament to his strength and the beauty of the land, he used his enormous hands to carve out the Tu Sản Canyon.
