Tours - Hanoi sights + HCMM complex

See some of the most important sights in Hanoi. From the Temple of Literature to the place where modern day Vietnam was created.

Itinerary

08:00

We start the tour early and either collect you from your hotel or residence in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. We have a private car with driver to take us to all the sights for the day.

08:15

Ho Chi Min’s Mausoleum - The importance for many Vietnamese of this man is huge. There is a queue to get in, but we do not usually have to wait long. The building is quite cold, as part of the preservation requirements. We walk around his display slowly, quiet with our thoughts and contemplations. Once outside again, in the mornings is usually a military parade to see. The special guards of the mausoleum all wear white military uniforms.

10:00

On the site is also Ho Chi Min’s Stilts House. He had this beautiful wooden building constructed in 1958 and was his official residence until his passing in 1969. The quality of the wood as well as the workmanship is something to behold. The house has 2 rooms upstairs which we can view from a walkway. The house is next to a large pond in the presidental ground that Ho Chi Min used to enjoy many hours at.

09:30

One Pillar Pagoda - designed in the form of a lotus flower with a single pedalstal. The pagoda dates back nearly 1000 years & is one of the most important in the whole of Vietnam.

11:00

The Temple of Literature - to view the first university of Vietnam dating back some over 1000 years. It was originally a school for royal family members only but eventually changed into a school for high-achieving Vietnamese nationals. We visit the various historic buildings and gardens to admire their beauty and to find out more information about the university. After is a nearby lunch…

12:00

At a local restaurant we have tasty local spread. The set menu has a range of lovely dishes to fill us up and to enjoy. Lunch is an hour.

13:15

Ethnology Museum - This 1000 sq/m facility aims to preserve & document the 54 ethnic cultures of Vietnam. It is split into 2, an indoor section and an outdoor section. The outdoor section has a selection of full size traditional houses of the larger ethnic groups. Indoors there are many interesting exibits to see. It takes us over an hour to see it all.

12:00

Ngoc Son Temple - One of the most famous landmarks in Hanoi with the famous red wooden bridge! The bridge allows us access to the jade island where the temple is and other surrounding buildings. Also here are the giant turtles that used to live in the lake, preserved and on display. We pass many “gates” that are adorned with traditional Vienamese characters as well as motifes of animals.

17:00

We can drop you off back at your hotel or residence in the Old Quarter of Hanoi. We hope you have had an enjoyable and memorable day.
