Weather updates

It’s been in the news that we had a typhoon called Yagi. Many people have asked how is Sapa doing after seeing the reporting in many western news outlets. The typhoon caused much damage in Hanoi and Ha Long Bay areas. Many trees were blown over and there was local flooding of homes next to the Red River in Hanoi. There have also been landslides in the Lao Cai province (further down the Muong Hoa Valley).

Typhoon Yagi

Sapa is not prone to flooding as it is at the foot of a mountain range. As far as trekking goes - tours of Sapa were only affected for the 48hrs while the storm passed. There has been some damage to local homes but not on the scale of other areas.

Typhoon season lasts from the start of September to mid October in Asia. There are other predicted storms to come but so far their path does not cross Northern Vietnam.

On a final note we would like to thank all our international friends and previous customers for reaching out to us to make sure we are ok. You guys are amazing. The houses are still ok and the harvest was done in august so the food supply is ok too.
